In a recent effort to boost educational outcomes in Oyam North, Member of Parliament Dr. Eunice Apio Otuku has donated sets of exams to 58 primary schools in her constituency. The donation, made through the Oyam North Performance Improvement Committee (ONPIC), provides one set of exams to candidates in all 58 primary schools as part of the PRE-PLE 2024 examination initiative. The donation was officially delivered at a ceremony held in Ngai sub-county, where Dr. Apio emphasized her commitment to education and the development of her constituency.

Dikan Grace Patricia, the coordinator of ONPIC in Dr. Apio’s office, highlighted the donation’s purpose: to help students better prepare for their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). “This is not a political gesture,” Patricia clarified, “but a commitment to enabling students to maximize their revision and academic preparedness as they wait for their final exams.” The exams are intended to give candidates ample practice, helping them strengthen their knowledge in key subjects and boosting their confidence before the national assessments.

In an appeal to the voters of Oyam North, Dikan urged the community to support Dr. Apio in the upcoming 2026 general election, emphasizing her dedication to poverty eradication through educational initiatives.

Denish Omara Ogwal, chairperson of ONPIC and headteacher of Ariba Primary School, praised Dr. Apio’s commitment to education and her ability to lobby effectively for resources that benefit the schools. He encouraged teachers who received the exam sets to make the most of them, using the resources to reinforce classroom learning and aid in student revision.

Headteachers and educators across Oyam North expressed their appreciation for the support, with some openly acknowledging the excitement and renewed motivation this initiative brings to their schools. Many pledged to use the resources diligently to improve academic performance across the constituency, hoping to raise Oyam North’s overall educational outcomes.

Beyond her commitment to education, Dr. Apio, a member of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party, recently launched a broader empowerment project. This initiative targets vulnerable groups within her constituency, including youth, women, elders, and religious leaders. The project is designed to offer support and resources, contributing to the well-being and self-sufficiency of these groups.

With her focus on education and community empowerment, Dr. Apio continues to demonstrate her dedication to her constituency’s holistic growth and development. This recent donation marks another step toward her vision of an educated, empowered, and prosperous Oyam North.
