Lira City, 26 October 2024 – In a heartfelt address today, Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) Bonny Otucu commended the residents of Iwal for their active involvement in government programs and unwavering support for development initiatives in Lira City. Otucu’s remarks were made in Iwal, during the launch of road rehabilitation project which was being done by representatives of Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Health Minister and Woman MP for Lira City.
Otucu highlighted that the City Council received an official communication from Dr. Aceng, outlining her commitment to improving infrastructure in Lira City, particularly in wards where road conditions have long been a challenge. “We are thrilled to see the beginning of these much-needed improvements. Dr. Aceng’s efforts demonstrate her commitment to bettering the lives of her constituents,” Otucu stated, emphasizing the vital role of local leaders in ensuring that such development initiatives come to fruition.
The atmosphere in Iwal was one of celebration and excitement as residents gathered to witness the arrival of graders and rollers to kickstart the road works. By the end of the day, substantial progress had been made, with the road from Iwal Center to the border of Bar already rehabilitated. The improved accessibility is expected to enhance the daily lives of residents and promote economic activities in the area.
The road rehabilitation project is seen as a crucial step toward addressing Iwal’s infrastructural challenges, as many roads in Lira City East Division remain in dire need of repair.
