Mandela National Stadium, Kampala – August 4, 2025
Algeria began their 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign in dominant fashion with a commanding 3–0 victory over Uganda in Group C action at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
The first half saw Uganda holding off pressure until the 35th minute, when Ayoub Ghezala broke the deadlock.
Rising highest during a corner kick, Ghezala headed home to give Algeria a deserved lead before halftime.
Despite the home support, Uganda’s attack lacked sharpness, with only one shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.
Algeria’s confidence grew after the break. In the 76th minute, Meziane Abderrahmane doubled their advantage, finishing a sleek team move that left Uganda’s defenders flat-footed.
Just three minutes later, substitute Soufiane Beyazid sealed the match with a well-taken goal in the 79th minute, ensuring the North Africans claimed all three points in style.
