Kioga Constituency has become the first team to book a place in the final of the inaugural Dwog Pacu Cup after edging out Dokolo North Constituency with a narrow but well-fought 1-0 win in the tournament’s opening semi-final match held today.
The tightly contested fixture was played under an electrifying atmosphere, with both teams showing strong determination to reach the final.
Kioga’s goal, which came midway through the match, was enough to separate the two sides and solidify their unbeaten run in the tournament so far.
The victory means Kioga Constituency marches into the final without losing a single game in the competition — a strong statement of their ambition and consistency in this year’s edition of the tournament.
The match was not without its moments of drama. Both sides received two yellow cards each as tensions ran high on the pitch, reflecting the intensity and importance of the occasion.Odongo Solomon of Kioga Constituency stood out as the man of the match, receiving high praise for his commanding performance.
In line with the Dwog Pacu Cup’s ongoing environmental campaign, he was awarded 30 seedlings as a reward — part of this year’s theme, “Plant More Trees,” which seeks to promote reforestation and greening across the Lango sub-region.
Today’s semi-final marked the official beginning of the final stage of the Dwog Pacu Cup, a grassroots football competition that has quickly grown in popularity for blending sports with community development initiatives.
Kioga will now await the winner of tomorrow’s second semi-final clash between Lira City West and Erute North. That match, scheduled for Saturday, July 27, will kick off at a venue expected to attract large crowds, with an entrance fee set at UGX 5,000 for ordinary fans and UGX 10,000 for VIPs.
The losing teams from both semi-finals will battle it out in the third-place playoff scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025. The grand final, where Kioga will face either Lira City West or Erute North, will take place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, promising to be a thrilling climax to what has already been a memorable tournament.
