The Diocese of West Lango is today 19 October 2024 celebrating its 10th decade anniversary at St Peter’s Cathedral – Aduku with Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, Minister for Health and Woman MP for Lira City, gracing the occasion as the representative of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The theme of the celebration, “Ministry of the Church in Crisis Psalm 34,” resonated deeply with the attendees.
The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, is the main celebrant at the event. His presence underscores the significance of the occasion and the importance of the Church’s role in addressing the challenges faced by the community.
As the representative of President Museveni, Hon. Dr. Aceng Ocero’s attendance demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting the Church’s endeavors. President Museveni has previously been recognized for his contributions to promoting peace and stability in Uganda and the region. The President’s support for the Church’s activities, particularly in the health and education sectors, has been instrumental in improving the lives of Ugandans.
The celebration serves as a testament to the Diocese of West Lango’s dedication to serving the community. The Church’s ministry has been a beacon of hope, providing spiritual nourishment and addressing the physical needs of the faithful. As President Museveni emphasized in a previous message, a holistic and relevant ministry must express equal concern for the physical needs of the faithful, alongside spiritual nourishment.
The event has brought together various dignitaries, including religious leaders and government officials, to commemorate the Diocese’s milestone anniversary. The occasion is a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration between the government and the Church in promoting the well-being of Ugandans
