‎In a tightly contested race, Hon. Linda Agnes Auma has emerged victorious as the new National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson for Lira District, unseating long-time party stalwart Hon. Sam Engola.‎‎

Auma garnered 188 votes, surpassing Engola’s 155 votes, signaling a decisive leadership shift within the district’s NRM structure.

The outcome reflects growing grassroots support for Auma’s leadership and vision for rejuvenating the party’s presence in the region.‎‎

Her election marks a historic moment for Lira District, as she becomes one of the few women to lead the NRM at a district level, and brings with her a reputation for energetic leadership, youth empowerment, and strong mobilization skills.‎‎

Political analysts say Auma’s win could reshape the internal dynamics of the NRM in Lango sub-region, with potential implications for upcoming national party decisions.‎‎‎
