Lira, Uganda – July 28, 2025Delegates of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) from the Lango sub-region have unanimously endorsed Hon. Geoffrey Ogwang as their sole candidate for the position of National Treasurer in the NRM National Youth League.
The endorsement comes as a strong show of support for Ogwang’s visionary and youth-focused leadership.
Speaking during a meeting with youth representatives and party leaders, Hon. Ogwang expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in him. He unveiled a clear four-point agenda aimed at empowering Uganda’s youth and giving them a brighter future.
“I’m standing to commit myself to empowering this generation through tangible initiatives,” Ogwang said. “Together, let’s build a brighter future.”
Ogwang’s Four-Point Agenda for Youth Empowerment:
1. Supporting Youth Livelihood Projects – Promoting initiatives that improve young people’s lives by equipping them with vital skills and resources.
2. Providing Financial Literacy and Life Skills Training – Ensuring the youth have the knowledge to manage finances and make informed decisions.
3. Advancing Human Rights and Education – Promoting equal access to education and protecting youth rights across the country.
4. Promoting Transparency and Accountability – Advocating for open and clear management of youth resources at the national level.
Ogwang also emphasized his commitment to economic growth and job creation among youth through strategic planning and resource allocation.
His campaign is rooted in fostering inclusion, transparency, and innovation within the NRM Youth League.
One of the key delegates, Okwany Steven Ken, the General Secretary for Alebtong District, reaffirmed the region’s overwhelming support for Ogwang.
He noted that the endorsement from Alebtong and other districts in Northern Uganda stems from Ogwang’s consistent engagement and transparency in dealing with young people.
“The youths of Alebtong and the entire Northern Uganda have endorsed Geoffrey Ogwang because of the excellent leadership qualities he has demonstrated. He is honest, approachable, and committed to youth development,” Okwany said.
Okwany further urged fellow youth leaders and NRM supporters across the country to rally behind Ogwang, saying the position of National Treasurer is crucial to the progress of the party and youth structures.
As the NRM Youth League prepares for its upcoming elections, Hon. Geoffrey Ogwang’s message of unity, development, and accountability appears to be resonating across the region.
