Ishaka, Bushenyi – Kampala International University today marked the successful culmination of its 31st Graduation Ceremony, relocating the event to its Western Campus as thousands of graduands received their academic awards.
In attendance were key university dignitaries, faculty, families, and invited guests. The Chief Guest for the Ceremony was the Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Uganda’s Minister of ICT and National Guidance, who shared words of encouragement with the graduates.
“We welcome you to the world of work,” he declared, emphasising government commitment to youth employment.
“The most important tool you can have in your life is knowledge. I want you to put the knowledge you have acquired to good use—not only for yourself but also for the society you live in” .
The Chairman of the KIU Board of Trustees, Al‑Hajj Dr. Hassan Basajjabalaba, addressed the audience via a recorded message.
He underscored KIU’s mission of delivering inclusive, practical education grounded in community impact. Dr. Basajjabalaba highlighted the development of KIU’s Medical School into East Africa’s flagship health facility and reiterated plans to develop the Western Campus into a centre of excellence for health sciences and engineering
.Delivering the University’s official address, Vice‑Chancellor Professor Muhammed Ngoma applauded the unwavering dedication of students, staff, and stakeholders.
He reaffirmed KIU’s strategic alignment with Uganda’s national development agenda, especially in STEM fields, and urged graduands to carry themselves as ambassadors of integrity and professionalism.
Professor Ngoma also praised institutional partnerships that have bolstered KIU’s academic and research profile, including international symposia and surgeon training initiatives .A total of several thousand students across disciplines—from Business Administration, Health Sciences, Law, to Education and STEM—crossed the stage to receive their certificates.
Among them were standout performances from first‑class graduates, including notable law and medicine candidates widely featured in graduation stories leading up to the event .
Throughout the ceremony, graduates were reminded of KIU’s call to “Explore the Heights”—a theme resonating in institutional messaging.
The speeches collectively emphasized the importance of continuous learning, innovation, and service to society, as KIU continues its mission to empower East Africa’s next generation of professionals and leaders.
As the ceremony drew to a close, faculty and guests joined the graduands in celebrating their achievements—with photo opportunities, farewells, and reflections on their journeys at KIU.
